Plot[]
During a movie shoot for "The Princess and the Pea", Barbie is fired by Todd, the director of "The Princess and the Pea", a film where she was acting as the story's titular princess, for expressing her personal opinion on his addition, the Zombie Peas. To make matters worse, Todd's assistant Spencer posts a blog about Barbie getting fired that is spread to gossip sites, which her friend Nikki informed to her on the phone, and Ken breaks up with her in another phone call. Under the suggestion of her best friend Grace, Barbie decides to get away from everything that happened to her by going to Paris and visiting her Aunt Millicent, a fashion designer, and takes her poodle Sequin with her. While Barbie is in Paris after her arrival, Ken is at Wally's helping Barbie's ex-best friend Raquelle practice lines for one of her movies. After a confrontation with Grace and Barbie's other best friend Teresa when they think Ken dumped Barbie for Raquelle, he is confused by their accusations. However, when Grace mentions Barbie told the girls he said something to her about breaking up with someone, Ken recognizes it as one of the lines he read for Raquelle, and he realizes that Raquelle recorded and played it to Barbie to make her believe Ken broke up with her as a 'joke'. To make sure Barbie understands that he didn't actually dump her, Grace tells him to make a grand romantic gesture. Ken agrees to do it, so he leaves to book a flight to Paris so he can surprise Barbie. Raquelle tries to stop him by suggesting him to continue practicing lines with her, but he declines and heads to an airport in Pittsburgh.
Meanwhile, in Paris, Barbie finds her Aunt Millicent's fashion house Millicent's and discovers that she's closing down and moving to the country due to being unsuccessful. Barbie meets Aunt Millicent's assistant Marie-Alecia, who goes by Alice and is a great designer, but is also shy. She has a dress with an amazing design, which is enhanced by the Flairies: Shyne, Shimmer, and Glimmer. They can enhance clothes by giving them glitter after someone puts them in the Glitterizer, a wardrobe with their magic in it. Their magic only works if an outfit inspires them. The dress turns into a success when a woman sees the dress from outside and buys it.
Barbie decides to host a fashion show on Friday night to raise enough money to buy Aunt Millicent's fashion house back from a hot dog company. However, across the street from Millicent's is Jacqueline, owner of Jacqueline's, a rival fashion house that is more successful than Millicent's because she copies clothes of other designers such as Millicent, and her assistant Delphine, rivaling fashion designers Barbie bumped into during her first day in Paris. When Delphine and Jacqueline see the Flairies, Jacqueline kidnaps Shimmer, Glimmer and Shyne to make them enhance her dresses like they did to Alice's. Despite their warning that something bad will happen to the dresses if they glitterize them even though they never made them feel inspired, to which Jacqueline does not believe, they enhance the dresses but are kept prisoner after they finished. When Barbie and Alice discover that the Flairies are gone, Millicent decides to help them with the fashion show, and they work through the night to create a line of beautiful dresses.
On Thursday night, Sequin, Jacques and Jilliana, Millicent's pet dog and cat, see fireworks that the Flairies made and rescue them at Jacqueline's. After they return to Millicent's with the pets, the Flairies transform the studio and glitterize Alice's dresses, completing the last preparations for the fashion show. The following evening, at Jacqueline's own fashion show, it is loaded with plenty of people, including Lilliana Roxelle, Paris's top fashion critic. When the fashion show starts, Jacqueline's dresses begin to turn into smelly garbage. Delphine realizes that the magic is not being stable since the dresses didn't inspire the Flairies. Lilliana leaves the show and heads to Millicent's with the other attendees for the fashion show there.
Just as Barbie, Millicent and Alice start the show, Jacqueline and Delphine also attend it to watch. Near the end of it, Glimmer, who has always struggled with her powers, unexpectedly transforms Barbie's final dress into a glittering three-tiered pink gown that everyone admires, including Teresa, her pet dog Lulu and Grace, who are watching a live stream of the fashion show in Teresa's laptop from Wally's. After a few mishaps that procrastinated his trip to Paris, Ken finally arrives at Millicent's, tells Barbie onstage that him breaking up with her is only a misunderstanding and informs her that he loves her. Touched by what he did for her, Barbie responds that she loves him back and they share a passionate kiss in front of the crowd with Teresa, Lulu and Grace watching them, happy to see that things have turned out well for the couple. The Flairies transform Ken's clothes into a white suit that compliments Barbie's dress. Better yet, a lady orders ten thousand pieces from the fashion line, and Millicent is able to buy the fashion house back from the hot dog guy.
Lilliana congratulates Barbie, Millicent, Alice and Ken for an impressive 'magical' show and invites them to her pink, white and black party that night. Jacqueline remorsefully apologizes to Millicent, Barbie and Alice for her actions after seeing their fashion line. They forgive her and Millicent adds that someday, they would all work together. In addition, Barbie suggests that she has three more apologies to make, referring to the Flairies. Jacqueline agrees and approaches them with Delphine to apologize for their kidnapping. Later, Glimmer harnesses her magic the second time and transforms two limousines sent to Barbie, Ken, Millicent, Alice and the pets by Lilliana into beautiful stagecoaches. When everyone leaves for the party, Spencer, who came to Paris after he saw Barbie's post about the fashion show, tells her that the studio needs her back and offers her to be a director for a new movie. Barbie agrees to consider it after the party. The film ends after Barbie, Ken, Millicent, Alice, the pets and the Flairies are almost arriving at a pink castle-like building where Lilliana's party is being held.
Pet Romance[]
Jacques first sees Sequin when she wakes him up. He falls in love with her straight away and wants to use her as his fashion muse. Even though Sequin crashes into him, he apologizes to her and introduces himself. He helps her up, and they get acquainted. Jilliana makes fun of Sequin's style, but Sequin defends herself and says she is honored to be Jacques' muse. They run off happily, leaving Jilliana.
Jilliana can't help rolling her eyes at Jacques' huge crush on Sequin. While she is happy that Sequin inspires Jacques to design again, she thinks all the romance is gross. Later in the film, after Jacques shows his first design on Sequin, he compliments her outfit and tells her how much she inspires him. They lean in to touch noses, only to be interrupted by Jilliana, who apologizes to Sequin for her remarks about her.
Later at a fashion show hosted by Barbie, Jacques takes part in it (walking on the catwalk to "Who Let The Dogs Out") with Sequin and Jilliana, who wear Jacques's outfits that are enhanced with the Flairies' magic. During Lilliana's black, white and pink party at the end of the film, he swaggers up to a poodle topiary with a rose in his mouth and strokes its paw, thinking that it's Sequin. But the real Sequin then comes up from beside his and he realizes his mistake. Jacques chuckles, puts the rose in Sequin's mouth, and they lean on each other.
