How safe is YouTube Vanced? Very concerned about privacy (2024)

Is it safe to log-in to YouTube using my gmail account? I am super nervous and paranoid about having my personal information looked at and my passwords and stuff being messed with.

I am sort of technologically illiterate so I don't know the risk.

But it sounds very tempting since I've been paying YouTube Red for 3 years just for their background playback feature.

Nah i thought the same thing then i checked a connection montior and it only accesses youtube and google.
Its been approved by XDA i guess

And I've been using it for a long while now, and I've concluded that it is perfectly privacy safe.

Just don't worry and log in because Google already knows everyones account passwords (at least that's what I think because Google does steal data). What you can do is log in temporarily when you watch videos and afterwards log out.

WTF? Google encrypts passwords and they cant see what that is. They do not steal sensitive information like THAT.
maybe advertising ID and tracking.
but passwords? no.

I said ' I think ' . Anyway, when Google drive takes a backup of device it takes backup of wifi password too. This drive backup is only restorable while setting up a new device. But before restoring this backup you need a network of course so you turn on WiFi and enter password, then you restore so what is the need to take backup of wifi password ?????

As with Android - no matter what version: Wi-Fi passwords always are stored in Plain-Text-mode in file /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf

So you easily can pull that file to PC and inspect it:

adb devicesadb pull /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf C:\wpa_supplicant.conf

And i was under the idiotic impression you need root to inspect saved wifi passwords.

Also, it has the word in plural terms meaning that it backups more than one wifi password. And if you have mobile data you can still restore wifi isn't needed.
I have 3 wifi aps in my house and ofc the router itself.
The passwords are different in each of them(don't ask me why) but saving those passwords are useful so it isn't needed to reenter them again.
